A Case Of Chronic Massive Enlargement Of Spleen

Recently an adult male came to me with complaints of bleeding piles for one year, chronic abdominal pain, chronic abdominal distension, recent onset of burning during urination, chronic non-discogenic back pain, mushy stools, early satiety (says I feel full after eating little), chronic decreased appetite, chronic weakness, body aches (mainly thighs, arms, and shoulder).




I examined him and found him to have massive enlargement of spleen, severe anemia, thin legs and arms, dry tongue, dry skin, and low blood pressure.

Upon taking history, this patient told me that about 7 years ago he got high fever with chill for which he was investigated and treated in hospital for 10 days after hospital discharge. Very soon he started to have above stated symptoms and then returned to the doctors who treated him in hospital and had an ultrasound done, which showed enlargement of spleenomeagly. Doctors advised him to have his spleen removed surgically for which he was not ready. Since then he takes medicines from local doctors when the symptoms got worse.

He also told that he never tried any Homeopathic or Ayurvedic treatment for this problem. He also had no screening ultrasound after first ultrasound. Generally he is able to work without much problems. Generally after three days of work his problems get worse for which he takes medicine and one day rest. He is motor engine mechanic and is doing well and has four kids.

On first and second visit, I gave him Conium 30 water dose for his worsening of bleeding piles to which he responded very shortly and his bleeding and rectal pain stopped after few doses. This gave him lot of hope and he is determined to try my homeopathic treatment for spleen enlargement though I counseled him about surgical treatment and tell him all pros and cons of splenectomy. I had ordered some blood test and ultrasound for this patient and I will update about the progress of this case.
