Role and Opportunity Of Homeopathy In NRHM India

By dr rakesh kumar   Posted at  10:13 AM   NRHM jobs for homeopathic doctors No comments

Few years ago, I was wondering why homeopathic physicians are not playing any role in any national health programs. This was frustrating because as for new homeopathic bachelors have very less opportunity and very less help provided by government in comparison to mainstay system of treatment of India i.e., allopathy.

It is really frustrating because minimal qualification of admission in homeopathic medical colleges and allopathic medical colleges were about same even ability of homeopathic student is also about same as both are coming by beating medical competition test. Medical competitions (i.e. CPMT and other) are now so competitive that 1-3 changes the rank. With these few marks decide fate of medical competitor very much. So there is only 1-10 marks difference in medical competitor who gets seat in allopathic medical school from that who has now opted to get admission in alternative system of medicines i.e. dental, homeopathy, ayurvedic, and Unani colleges.

According to AYUSH {Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy funded by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Govt. of India)}infrastructure report released on 1.4.2007, In India there were 230 homeopathic hospitals, 5836 dispensaries, and 217850 registered practioners.

Among 230 hospitals only about 10-12 hospitals were with more than five homeopathic doctors and almost at every homeopathic dispensaries only 1 homeopathic doctors are appointed so opportunity in government sector was very poor and in private sector it was very, very poor as there is only few private homeopathic hospitals/clinics which appoints homeopathic physicians and there is almost no resident post for homeopathic bachelors. So fresh homeopathic graduate have no option except opening a new clinic and most of them after either initial failure or people's demand of allopathic medicines starts practicing allopathic medicine, which is not good in anyway.

For fulfilling medical services sufficiently in India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Govt. of India) taken a good step by appointing AYUSH physicians on contract basis at PHC/CHCs level to strengthen NRHM.

Jobs for BHMS/homeopathic doctors in NRHM

Recently, there are about 1400 new post created for AYUSH doctors in Uttar Pradesh and last date for these vacancies are 15 July, 2010. These vacancies are on contact basis for 24000/month. Azamgarh district has maximum 50 posts while Varanasi has 0 post for male doctors and 2 posts for female doctors.

For more detail please contact your Jila Pariyojana Adhikari (Pariwar Kalyan). And click here also. Zila Pariyojana Adhikari's office of each districts usually located in District Hospital or CMO office.

Interview of these jobs would be held by Jila Pariyojana Adhikari in the presence of DM.

As there is no age limitation, there are lot of applicant making selection very difficult and complicated and also favoring corruption.

For fair selection, NRHM should make merit base criteria as applied for BTC. I believe total of high school, intermediate, and graduation is best option to do a fair selection though for homeopathic student it is not good as some colleges give good marks in exam while other do give only passing marks.

Results have been declared by Jila Pariyojana Adhikari in almost every district. One can know result by contacting Jila Pariyojana Adhikari's office as no newspaper notification were issued to notify that results are declared. New posted AYUSH doctors have joined their work at around Mid August, 2010.

Rumors are air that there was huge corruption was involved in the selection of candidates. Posting according to merit list based on percentage gained in high school, intermediate, and BAMS/BHMS/BUMS can be good idea and this will certainly minimize the corruption involved.
